The 28-year-old forward expressed deep emotional ties to Sale Sharks, the club he has supported throughout his life. He reflected on his journey from watching games at Edgeley Park as a child to emulating his heroes on the same fields.
“Sale Sharks means everything to me. This is the club I have supported my whole life. To be able to say I can do that with my brother every week and my family up here makes it even more special,” Curry said.
Curry also emphasized his commitment to the team’s future success, acknowledging the progress they have made and his desire to contribute to its continued growth.
“I’m very proud of the hard work we’ve put in over the last ten years to get the club to where it is now, but I know how much more we have to give and that’s the reason I want to stay. There’s no place I would rather be,” he added.
Alex Sanderson, Sale Sharks’ director of rugby, praised Curry's professional growth and foundational role within the team. Sanderson highlighted how Curry’s experiences with top-tier international teams have shaped his perspective on the importance of maintaining a core group of senior players at Sale.
“Tom has been in some of the best environments in the world with England and the British and Irish Lions, and it was him who said we have to keep this core group of senior players together,” Sanderson explained.
He further commented on Curry’s physical fitness and his pivotal role in both attack and defense, illustrating the depth of his impact on the team.
“He’s as fit and as fast as he’s ever been and his capacity to work and impact the game both sides of the ball is incredible. He’s fundamental to us in terms of being the cornerstone of that core group and I’m delighted he’s staying because we want him to finish his career at Sale,” Sanderson remarked.
