Predictions: Who Wins URC Derbies This Weekend?

This weekend sets the stage for riveting encounters in the United Rugby Championship as the Bulls welcome the Lions at Loftus Versfeld and the Sharks head to Cape Town to clash with the Stormers. The Lions are looking to replicate their previous success at Loftus, where they sparked a remarkable turnaround last November with a 43-33 victory over the Bulls. This win paved their way to a first-ever URC playoff appearance. The Sharks also seek to maintain their dominance over the Stormers, having secured a 30-19 victory in Cape Town earlier this January followed by a 36-24 triumph back in Durban.

The current season has seen the Lions and Sharks off to a formidable start, both teams boasting an undefeated record after two home games. Conversely, the Bulls and Stormers are trying to shake off recent defeats in Europe last week. With both matches set for this Saturday, the question looms: who will seize victory in these critical URC derbies?

As the teams prepare for the showdown, strategic adjustments and player morale will play crucial roles. Both the Lions and Sharks have demonstrated strong early form, which they will undoubtedly aim to continue. Meanwhile, the Bulls and Stormers must leverage home advantage and rectify past missteps to bounce back.

This weekend's matches are not just about the wins; they're about setting the tone for the rest of the season. Winning at home can boost the Bulls’ and Stormers' confidence and disrupt the momentum of their visiting rivals. Alternatively, road victories for the Lions and Sharks could solidify their positions as front-runners in this season's championship chase.

As the countdown to the kick-off begins, fans from all corners are casting their votes and speculations, pondering whether it will be the Bulls and Stormers or the Lions and Sharks who will emerge victorious in these much-anticipated South African clashes.

For me...

The Bulls are just too big for the Lions. A part of me says the Lions can pull it off, but I fear the Bulls muscle might win the day.

How on earth does one call a winner between the Sharks and Stormers. The Sharks are looking good and I'll defos be wanting them to win. Hopefully Andre gets plenty of front foot ball and hits the Stompie midfield at pace.

Difficult to call winners.

But I'd like to see the Lions and Sharks win.

...and just for Mike, I hope AE scores ALL the points.
